Dr. Eliane Ubalijoro is a globally recognized leader in sustainable development, regenerative agriculture, circular economy, and impact investing. As CEO of CIFOR-ICRAF, she leads global research and partnerships focused on advancing climate-resilient solutions and circular economy models across the Global South.

With a background in molecular genetics and agricultural innovation, Eliane has led cross-sector initiatives across academia, biotechnology, and international development. Her work leverages science and technology to drive inclusive, environmentally conscious economic growth—particularly for women and smallholder communities in emerging markets.

Eliane has advised governments, development finance institutions, and global organizations on sustainability, bioeconomy, and data-driven development strategies. She brings decades of experience in assessing and guiding impact investments, especially in climate-smart agriculture and digital sustainability.
